Does this sound familiar?

Anxiety and low mood show up differently for everyone

You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to start counselling. If some of these feel familiar, it may be a good time to reach out.

How counselling can help

Practical tools, tailored to your life

Together we'll make sense of what's keeping you stuck and build skills that work in your real life. I draw on well-researched approaches and shape them around your goals.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

One of the most researched approaches for anxiety and depression. We explore how your thoughts, emotions, body, and actions connect, and shift the patterns that keep you stuck.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Tools to make room for difficult feelings instead of fighting them, so you can spend more energy on what matters to you.

DBT skills

Practical skills for calming strong emotions, getting through hard moments, and communicating clearly with the people in your life.

EMDR, when the past is involved

If anxiety or low mood is tied to past experiences, EMDR can help reduce the hold those memories have on today. About EMDR

How it works

Getting started is simpler than it feels.

FAQ

Questions about anxiety & depression counselling

All FAQs
Do I need a diagnosis or a doctor's referral?

No. You can book directly, without a diagnosis or referral. Some extended health plans ask for a referral before they reimburse, so it's worth checking with yours.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're working on. Some people come weekly, others every two weeks or monthly. We'll check in on your goals as we go so you always know where things stand.

Should I choose online or in person?

Choose whichever you'll find easiest to keep up with. In-person sessions are at Empowering Health Clinic in North Park Village, Victoria, and secure video sessions run through Jane for anyone in BC.

Will my insurance cover sessions?

Many extended health plans cover a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). You'll get a receipt after each session to submit for reimbursement.

Counsellor or psychologist: what's the difference?

Registered psychologists in BC have doctoral training and can provide formal assessments and diagnoses. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I hold a master's degree and provide counselling and therapy, which often costs less per session. Many extended health plans cover both, sometimes under separate amounts.
