Is trauma still affecting you?

Common signs people notice

Trauma can come from a single event or from experiences that built up over time. People who may benefit from EMDR often describe:

What is EMDR?

A well-researched therapy for trauma and PTSD

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has been extensively researched as a treatment for people who have been through a traumatic event or live with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It can also help with grief, anxiety, and depression.

Reduce the distress

Lower the intensity of past events that are still affecting how you feel and function today.

Shift painful beliefs

Move from beliefs like "I am weak" toward more empowering ones, such as "I am capable."

Build resilience

Learn coping strategies you can use day to day, so you feel steadier between sessions.

FAQ

Questions about EMDR & trauma counselling

All FAQs
Is EMDR right for me?

EMDR is often a good fit if you've been through a traumatic event, live with PTSD, or have memories that still feel raw. We'll talk it through in your free consult, and I can draw on other approaches too.

Do I have to talk about every detail?

No. You won't be pushed to share more than you're ready to. We'll build coping skills and a sense of safety first, and move at a pace that feels manageable.

Can EMDR be done online?

Yes. I offer EMDR by secure video anywhere in British Columbia, as well as in person in Victoria.

Can my sessions be covered?

Many extended health plans cover an RCC or CCC. If your experience involved a crime in BC or a motor vehicle collision, CVAP or ICBC may cover counselling, and eligible First Nations clients can be covered through FNHA. All three are billed directly.
